GUIDELINES

Eligibility Guidelines

1. IIA National Office Bearers, IIA Awards National Committee members, Jury members, and the host IIA Chapter / Center Organizing Committee members are not eligible for participation. Spouses, parents, siblings, children and business partners of the aforesaid members (who are IIA members), are also not eligible to participate.
2. Applicant(s) must be IIA Member(s) in good standing with subscription paid up to date (or lifetime).
3. Entries can be submitted as single or multiple authors. In case of multiple authors, all participating authors should be members of IIA in good standing.
4. In case of any entry submitted by Partnership firm of Architects, all the partners must be members of IIA in good standing.
5. Applicants should have updated their registration with the Council of Architecture up to date.
6. The project/entries should have been completed before December 31st, 2023.
7. The research papers / books should have been published before December 31st, 2023.
8. The project/entries should not be in violation of any applicable statutory laws/regulations.
9. The project/entries should not have previously won an IIA National Award.
10. The project/entries should be the original work of the registering author(s), and not of others.




General Guidelines

1. A member can register one or more projects / entries in one or more categories.
2. Posthumous Award : In case of death of an individual (whose project is selected for the Award) prior to actual presentation of Award, the Organizers may present the Award posthumously.
3. The management of these Awards is entirely based on the bonafide personal declaration duly signed and stamped by Architect / Firm along with the entry form.
4. Clarifications, if any, may be sent by email to info@iianationalawards.com
5. At the final stage jury, only author as registered can present. In case of registration as multiple authors, only one nominated author can present. If the registered/nominated author is not available, the jury will adjudicate the presentation without a presenter.
6. If the winner of an Award for whatsoever reason cannot be present at the Awards presentation programme, the same will be delivered to his registered address in due course.




Category Guidelines

For Conservation Projects

Entries must include detailed documentation or images showing the existing structure prior to redevelopment.


For Urban Intervention and Landscape Projects

Entries to include detailed documentation or images of the site prior to commencement of the new development.


For Unbuilt Projects

Projects will have to be actual proposed projects with a real site, following the relevant rules and regulation. Documental proof has to be submitted in this regard. Hypothetical projects will lead to disqualification of entry.


For Women Architects in Forefront

Application to include 3 projects of any category presenting the exceptional qualities of the firm / practice.
In case of a partnership firm, all partners need to be women.

For Emerging Practices

Application to include 3 projects of any category presenting the exceptional qualities of the firm / practice.




Submission Guidelines

Research Paper

1. Papers written by more than one author are permitted, but the primary author must be a member of IIA in good standing.
2. Papers must be exclusively written only in the English language and of 3000 - 5000 words. The paper may be based on their ongoing or completed research.
3. The paper should be sent as a PDF. PPTs and word docs will not be accepted. The following should be blackened out (1) Name of author/s (2) Name of journal/publication (3) Date of publication (4) Name of author/s institution (5) Any other marks of identification. If any of these are seen to occur on the pdf, the entry shall be disqualified.
4. The paper must largely follow the structure: (1) Title (2) Abstract (3) Introduction (4) Literature review (5) Methodology (6) Results (7) Discussion (8) Conclusions & Recommendations (9) References (10) Acknowledgements and Appendices.
5. The references must be clear, cited within the text and for the images and tables as well. The list of references must mention the essentials of Author, Date of publication, Publisher, etc.
6. IIA will conduct a plagiarism check, and the acceptable threshold for similarity is 10%.
7. Shortlisted author will be called for a presentation for the final Jury.
8. The presented material must be strictly from the paper itself. No additional information/graphics external to the paper submitted will be admissible.




Books

1. Books written by more than one author are permitted, but the primary author must be a member of IIA.
2. Books must be exclusively written only in the English language, and need to be related to the built environment.
3. Books though published elsewhere, must be the author's own work.
4. Three copies of the book should be sent to the IIA Head Office at Mumbai (Address as shown in IIA Website). DURING SUBMISSION, UPLOAD A SCANNED IMAGE OF THE COURIER CONSIGNMENT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.
5. Shortlisted author will be called for a presentation for the final Jury.
6. The presented material must be strictly from the book itself. No additional information/graphics external to the book submitted will be admissible.




Projects

1. 6 A3 size sheets (Landscape) in PDF format to be uploaded (maximum size 30MB), explaining the design with architects idea/concept note of not more than 200 words and relevant drawings, sketches, photographs etc. Entries with less or more than 6 sheets or any size other than A3, will be disqualified.
2. A Report Document in single A4 size page in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) to be uploaded with relevant project details explaining the concept, context, constraints, innovations etc. (Text Colour : Black, Font : Arial, Font Size : 12)
3. Participants should not mention their name or firm name, firm logo, IIA membership number or any other identifying mark on submitted (entries) drawings, reports and documents. Such identifications shall lead to disqualification of entry.
4. Shortlisted author will be called for a presentation for the final Jury.
